One end of the cable has an RJ45 (8 pin) modular plug which connects to the radio's microphone socket. The other end has a USB plug which connects to the PC's USB port. The cable contains a USB to serial converter, so the radio appears as a COM port on the PC. Length approx 1.7m/5ft 6ins (if required, you can add a USB extension cable up to a total of 5m long).
Our standard cable uses the SiLabs CP2102 USB to serial chipset.
If you prefer the FTDI FT232RL chipset, select the premium version.
Both work with Windows up to version 10.
For more detailed information please read our USB chipset information page.
There are two types of Icom programming cables with the same connector, OPC-592 and OPC-1122. Please make sure you order the correct one for your radio (consult the manufacturer's manual). This cable is suitable for all Icom radios that use an RJ45 (8 pin) plug (OPC-592 cable) for programming. We also sell an OPC-1122 equivalent cable.
