This handy splitter cable allows the use of a second, independent CAT port via the microphone socket of your FT-857 or FT-897 transceiver. Ideal if the rear 8 pin mini DIN socket is already in use e.g. for an antenna tuner, linear etc.

One end of the cable connects to the transceiver's microphone socket. On the other end are an 8 pin modular socket to connect the microphone and an 8 pin Mini DIN CAT socket (the same as on the rear of the transceiver).

Important notes:

To enable the second CAT port on the transceiver, change menu item '059 MIC SEL' to 'CAT'.

None of the extra buttons on the microphone are available while the splitter is in-line or this menu item is set to 'CAT'. Only the PTT works.

The 8 pin Mini DIN connector on the splitter cable provides CAT only, not tuner or linear functionality. No DC power is available.

Not suitable for use with the Yaesu SCU-17 interface.

Some DB9 serial (non-USB) cat cables may not work.

CAT cable not included, available separately.

For Yaesu FT-857 and FT-897 only.

On the FT-857, with the head attached to the radio, route one cable through each of the two outlets as per the picture.

A CAT connection is not an audio interface for datamodes.
