This handy cable allows control/programming of your Kenwood TM-V7 or TM-G707 transceiver by your computer.

One end of the cable has a 6 pin mini-DIN plug which connects to the Data socket on front panel of the radio. The other end has a USB plug which connects to the PC's USB port. The cable contains a USB to serial converter, so the radio appears as a COM port on the PC. Length approx 1.7m/5ft 6ins (if required, you can add a USB extension cable up to a total of 5m long).

Our standard cable uses the SiLabs CP2102 USB to serial chipset.

This premium version uses the FTDI FT232RL chipset.

Both work with all current versions of Windows.

For more detailed information please read our USB chipset information page.Programming software not included. Please check the availability of suitable software for your model of radio and that the software supports USB COM ports. The links below are provided as a courtesy - please contact the software suppliers for support.

You can find Kenwood free programming software for the TM-V7 on this web page:

It's rather dated, and the web page says it's for USA models only, but we tested it with a TM-V7 UK model under Windows 7 with our cable. The software only works with serial ports COM1 or COM2, so the COM port of the USB cable may need re-allocating to one of these. There are various articles on how to this is on the web.

For TM-V7 remote control, we also tested RCV7 by KE4U:
